Speech by, National Director of Igbo Project at the Unveiling of Igbo project program on the 15th day of April 2017 @ Mable Arc Hotels Awka.

Greetings distinguish ladies and gentleman man,
As we know that culture stands as the people’s way of life, and cannot be separated from every day human existence. This is simply because every race and society is shaped by norms, beliefs, values and symbols which are part of their socio-cultural patterns. Nigeria has over hundred languages and tribes, but it's worrisome that while other ethnic nationalities are fighting seriously to preserve and promotes their cultural heritage, we Ndigbo appears to be unconcerned. Yes some Igbo leaders, scholars and cultural advocat has been raising the alarm and shouting everyday for Ndigbo to have a rethink about, the declining Cultural heritage and diversity of Ndigbo which can be seen in our languages, dressing, foods, arts, names, architecture occupation and even in our educational system. We are less concern to the issue of Ndigbo Cultural renaissance. How can we still claim to be one of the three major indigenous languages in Nigeria when doubts have been raised about the possibility of Ndigbo maintaining that status by the year 2020? Which is three year from today?
This treat by of ndigbo not being able to maintain their stand brought to the introduction of the program IGBO PROJECT.
Igbo project been a platform founded by Comr Ezenwafor Odera p.i and organised by great sons of Igbo land, was created to deal with the promotion of our cultural values to the world, to unite the Ndigbo at home and abroad under one entity "igwebuike", to protect our ethical cultural value from facing extinction, to preserve our cultural values, for our future generations, and to create an enabling environment for our people to uphold our cultural heritage.
The event witnessed a lot of distinguished sons of the Igbo land.
The Igbo project committee is a group of men and women, reputable Igbo leaders, Scholars, Crusaders and cultural advocators. This program has loads of goodwill towards the Igbo race if embraced by all. The major aim and objectives of this program is to cover all nooks and crannies of Igbo Nation by.
* encouraging good neighboring relationship with our host Nations.
*To work in common effort towards a common goal.
*To enhance the dignity and relevance of Igbo race.
*To protect and defend our ethnic tradition, language and culture.
*To preserve our cultural value for our future generation.
*To globally supervise the implementation and effectiveness of our Igbo ethnic cultural tradition and language.
*To unite Ndigbo at home and Diaspora for a noble course and for the progress of Ndigbo.
*To propagate our culture to the rest of the world.
*To ensure that the history, norms, arts and culture of Ndigbo are not lost because of lack of documentation.
*To represent and promote the interest of Ndigbo.
*To collaborate, affiliate, align and cooperate with other socio-cultural organizations with similar objectives.
To achieve this, we have designed departments to handle each section of the program.
We have Igbo project.
DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION
The department of education aims to work with the ministries of education and any private educational body, towards the fight for the rebirth of our language and culture within the educational system. The learning of ethics /cultural value of Ndigbo can be Viewed practical and theoretical aspect, because the root solution of our problems comes from an early age of non sensitization in the primary and secondary school level which according to facts, every living being must pass through education irrespective of the class. This will enable us lay it as a foundation stone in our children, we will also work with Igbo department in all university that have such department, Because as our forefathers thaugth us, it’s now our duty to teach our children and preserve it for the next generation. Under this department we have CATCH THEM YOUNG and HISTORY SUBJECT as our mayor program for now.
(DEPARTMENT HISTORY)
The department of HISTORY, major job is "Documentation". To preserve our culture for our future generations, I believe documentation , remains one of the best way to achieve it, history and arts department (area coordinators) will be visiting community's ,town & villages within Igbo land gathering information about their ethical culture & arts, (festivals & history) after which it will be documented by our production unit for future reference. I believe if we are able to tackle this, by next three years we can tell the full story about the existence of Ndigbo race. As we all know that our towns are rich with arts works that can take us far. They will also work with the ministry of information, Art and Culture, to enable us uphold this works.
DEPARTMENT OF ENTERTAINMENT
The Entertainment Department which is very large and we all know that it's through entertainment that other great Nations showcases and promotes their culture. For that we should not be left out. Under the Entertainment Department we have.
FASHION UNIT (PAGENTRLY AND MODELING)
The fashion unit
The Fashion and Modelling Unit they are to make sure that Igbo comes first in the modelling world, and that our cultural wears are exhibited in the fashion show. They are to produce new design from our traditional wear and exhibit them to the world which is another way of promoting our culture, because what you wear speaks of where you’re from.
The Pageantry Unit
This unit deals with the organizing of the face of Igbo project beauty contest, which the winner stands as one of our Ambassadors for the period of one year and they put up shows for the showcasing of our fashion designs. This is their pet project.
MUSIC UNIT
The Music Unit are charge with the responsibility to make sure that our people promotes our language and culture through music e.g.: Igbo Hip Pop, Igbo R&B, Igbo Gospel and Igbo High life musicals. We know that a lot of stories about our culture can be told through them. The pet project under this unit is Igbo music.
FILM UNIT
The film Unit is one very important unit because as we observed film stands to be the best strategic means and remains a veritable tool for promoting indigenous culture. The film unit responsibility is to make sure more film are produced in Igbo language and culture, and also cross check films been produced in Igbo language and culture. Because whatever that is been exhibited in the film, the viewers will understand to be our culture. The pet project under this unit is the creation of (IGBOWOOD) IGBO INDIGENOUS FILM INDUSTRY.
Just like other tribes in Africa, the Igbo have a rich tradition of indigenous performance including a repertoire of oral narrative story telling theatre
With all this units the entertainment department will be able to Globally Supervises the implementation, promotion and effectiveness of Igbo culture, traditions and language in the entertainment industry.
DEPARTMENT OF RELIGION
They are charge with the duty to document all religion within the Igbo nation and put out the differences between all. This religious belief is one of the key problems of Ndigbo due to the misunderstanding between the Christians and Pagans.
DEPARTMENT OF MEDIA
The Media Department has only two job production and media management; they are to make sure that Igbo content get to media house.
MEDIA UNIT:
The Media Unit deals a lot with the Ministry of Information, Magazine and News paper companies, Television and Radio Stations, and the Social Media (Internet). They will be supervising and also create programs that will promote our culture and also supply the media house with Igbo language contents like (Igbo film, Igbo music, & Igbo documentation, etc).
PRODUCTION UNIT
The Production Unit Job is to assist all departments in producing and covering all their activities putting them down as a data for future reference. They are the key production team of Igbo project.
With this departments ready and doing their duties we will go far in placing our culture and language in front line in Nigeria and the world at large.
We have appointed area directors to handle each department, after today we will embark on a massive appointment of our volunteer coordinator in each state and towns within the Igbo land they will represents Us to achieve this Great Task.
And we intends to partner with any Organization and Forum that has the same Aims like Ours
We will be launching all the pet project of each department on the 1st of July 2017 at the Mable Arc Hotels Awka.
We invite all Igbo leaders, scholars and Advocates of Igbo culture to join Us Achieve our Goals of the Igbo project.
We will be having our press release once in every three months, to be updating people on our progress.
It's nice to incur to our minds that the society we represent, is what we will do best and be proud of, not emulating the foreign attribute in the name of Money and Fame.
It's time we stand firm and represent our culture on a way by which our Ethics will be known and recognised worldwide. Your Advice, Encouragement, Endorsement and Support will assist to the success of these Programs.
